The FP3 birth pool is designed for a water birth in hospitals and made with health, safety and comfort of mother and baby in mind.
Edel Immersys specializes in the design and manufacture of labor and birth pools, bringing high-quality, safe and cost-effective solutions to hospitals.
Made in the USA by leading manufacturers American Bath Group, our permanent FP3 labor and birth pool has been designed especially for hospital use, rather than being adapted from an ordinary pool or tub. This makes our product reliable, practical, fit for purpose and safe for mothers, baby and nurse-midwives to use. It is also simple for you to install and maintain, therefore, providing you with an excellent return on your investment.
The FP3 has been designed from the ground up, with input from medical professionals for hospital use.
Some competitor pools are designed to meet a single midwife’s or unit’s requirements.
The freestanding design is simple and easy to install and it also provides all-round access for mother, midwives and attendants.
The fitted design from competitors may require costly custom-built frame and skirting, and additional tiling. Access may be limited to one side only.
The pool is shaped so that it is almost as wide as the base as the top, providing more space to move around in.
Other competitor pools are tapered towards the base which limits movement, comfort and access.
It’s in line with concerns regarding the effect of water jets on infection risk. None of our products offer these and never have done.
Some competitor pools do offer whirlpool functions or jets, but this is no longer deemed to be safe.
Single-use plug chains avoid contamination and blockage. The simple design means there is less to go wrong.
The cable-driven plug in competitor pools carry a risk of contamination and blockage. A more complex design could result in more problems.
Water depth is the optimum for floating and privacy.
Shallower designs of some competitor pools do not allow for floating and reduces privacy.
An integral seat-step is safe to use for additional comfort.
Adapted design of competitor pools means there is no seat and the woman must step all the way to the floor of the pool.
Midwives prefer a freestanding design to facilitise safer positions when attending to women.
Midwives requested the rim to be narrower here to facilitate safe monitoring.
Single-use plug to reduce infection risk.
Midwives advise a minimum inside depth of 25”.
Midwives request softly curves edges for the comfort of mother and nurse-midwife.
The shaped rim edge can be used as a grip if needed.
Midwives request moulded control points to reduce infection risk.
Anti-slip surfaces for safety.
Midwives strongly recommend a raised flat surface for the mother to step into.
Midwives advise a moderate 18 degrees angle of the wall behind the step/set for comfort.
Midwives recommend a 5” rim to safely rest on during entry and exit.
